Oak has become very popular for floors, stairs and furniture in recent years. The porous structure has an elegant look about it. If treated properly, oak is absolutely timeless.
Oak can be designed in many ways
Design options
If transparent special cloth matt paints are applied, the wood retains its natural look and looks untreated (raw wood effect). This effect can also be combined well with opaquely white painted surfaces.
Otherwise, oak can be stained to emphasize the pores (rustic effect), or without emphasizing the pores to create a more subtle stain pattern.
Both raw wood effects and also stained surfaces can also be pimped by means of white-washed pores!
What do you need to bear in mind?
- Stir all stains carefully before and after processing
- The end colour is only achieved after painting and may vary depending on the paint type. This is why you should always create samples first
- A (more) rustic effect is achieved if the stain is sprayed
(or brushed) - If the surface is to be painted white instead of being stained, ensure the coating system has a good
insulating effect (“tannic acid”). - Brushing the pores before staining creates a more beautiful stain effect and/or more distinct rustic effect.
