Surface protection systems

Good protection with design versatility

High-quality impregnations or crack-bridging coatings by Remmers increase the protection of the concrete against the penetration of moisture, CO² and salts that affect the reinforcement.

For areas that cannot be walked or driven across

Preventing moisture penetrating building materials is one well-known way of protecting construction works that has been practised for many centuries. In his work ‘De Architectura Libri Decem’, Vitruvius described the use of natural oils to make mortar water repellent and therefore more resistant. Today, modern protective substances whose effectiveness and durability are ensured by high-quality materials and binding agents are used.

Coatings and impregnation serve as a protective layer with different functions. In addition to preventing the penetration of damaging substances, e.g. salts or CO₂, into the concrete and the associated regulation of the moisture balance and increase of the electrical resistance, the physical resistance capability can also be improved. There is also the possibility of rigid or flexible crack-bridging and great design versatility with tested surface protection systems from OS 1 to OS 5a.

Remmers surface protection systems fulfil the requirements of DIN EN 1504-2 and the repair guidelines of the DAfStb.

OS 1

Hydrophobizing impregnation to produce a water repelling surface. The pores are not filled just covered.

There is no visible film on the surface and the concrete surface cannot be given a decorative finish.

©

OS 2

Preventive protection of concrete structures exposed to the weather with adequate water drainage, even on those areas sprayed with de-icing agents.

©

OS 4

Concrete structures exposed to the weather, even on those areas sprayed with de-icing agents on crack-free surfaces

©

OS 5a

Concrete structures exposed to the weather with cracks close to the surface, even on those areas sprayed with de-icing agents.

For areas that can be walked or driven across

High-quality impregnation and crack-bridging coatings by Remmers increase protection against the penetration of moisture, CO² and salts that affect the steel in the concrete. The protection function is ensured by tested and approved surface protection systems OS 8 - OS 11 b.
